Description

This home encapsulates living in the Caribbean with remarkably high ceilings and openings on the east and west sides allowing a wonderful through flow of air and giving the feeling of being under a covered terrace. Nearly every part of this property has an alfresco feel which is hard to reproduce in photos and video, so a viewing is highly recommended to understand the ambience of this home.

Two driveways access the property. One also allows access to the land plots to the east of the property. These are being offered as part of the sale.

On entering, one notes the symmetry of the property. There is an enormous living area surrounded on each side by ensuite bedrooms. The kitchen and ‘out of this world’ covered kitchen garden, give this “corner” of the house a feel of sitting in a quaint rural cafe. In some ways this is in contrast to the rest of the house but yet it works brilliantly. There is also a spacious family TV room alongside the kitchen.

From the main living space, one is led onto the substantial pool deck, remarkable for its uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea. Take a moment to sit and pause under the gazebo – an elevated lookout that is an absolute pleasure and Zen-like in its feel.

Above the pool deck, on the upper level of the home, is a galleried room with spectacular views out to sea.Currently this is used as a home office. The pool deck can be accessed by two outside stairways, without having to pass through the house. Ideal for the obligatory pool parties.

There is a spare room close to the main entrance to Sugar Ridge which, because of this location, could be an ideal guest room. At the lower floor level, there is a bedroom with its own bathroom which could quite easily be improved into a self-contained guest suite and, as mentioned, there is additional land to the east ideal for guest cottages, a tennis court and anything the heart desires.

The location of Sugar Ridge is also ideal. Just 20 miles to Grantley Adams International Airport and one mile above the west coast or Platinum coast of Barbados, with easy access to Speightstown which is currently undergoing gentrification with exciting regeneration of historical natural stone buildings. The town hosts a range of popular bars and eateries on the water’s edge.

Holetown is just 4 miles away and recognised as the heart of Barbados’ west coast tourism with fabulous hotels, wonderful shopping, all manner of food and grocery outlets, and high-end clothing, jewellery and furnishing stores and cinemas in Limegrove Lifestyle Centre. There’s also a wide range of restaurants including Fusion Rooftop, Tides and numerous bistros, cafes and bars all close by.

Swimming, snorkelling and all water sports are available along the west coast .The two best marinas on island are close by. Both Port Ferdinand and Port St Charles offer high end restaurants and warningly invite no resident guests in.
Golf can be enjoyed at Sandy Lane and Royal Westmoreland, tennis at the nearby Sugar Hill Resort and polo at Holders.

There is truly something for everyone close by.
